IT'S MORE THAN A SERVICE

WE COVER ALL YOUR WASTEWATER TREATMENT NEEDS

Wastewater treatment is the process of removing pollutants from used water before it is released back into the environment. The treatment process includes screening, primary and secondary treatment, disinfection, and nutrient removal. Properly treated water is safe for discharge and can also be reused for irrigation, industrial processes, and other non-potable purposes.

MAIN AREAS TO CONSIDER FOR A
WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

Waste Water Management Sri Lanka
  • Screening: The first step in wastewater treatment is screening. This involves removing large debris such as rocks, sticks, and plastic bags that can damage equipment or clog pipes.
  • Primary Treatment: After screening, the wastewater flows into a primary settling tank where the suspended solids settle to the bottom and are removed as sludge.
  • Aeration: In the next step, the wastewater is aerated to promote the growth of aerobic bacteria that break down organic matter. Waste Water Management Sri Lanka
  • Secondary Treatment: After aeration, the wastewater flows into a secondary settling tank where the remaining solids settle out and are removed as sludge.
  • Disinfection: To kill any remaining bacteria and viruses, the wastewater is disinfected with chlorine or other disinfectants.
  • pH Adjustment: The pH of the wastewater is adjusted to prevent corrosion and to ensure that the water is safe for discharge.
  • Nutrient Removal: Excess nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus are removed from the wastewater to prevent eutrophication of receiving water bodies. Waste Water Management Sri Lanka
  • Filtration: The treated wastewater is filtered through sand or other media to remove any remaining suspended solids.
  • Sludge Treatment: The sludge removed from the settling tanks is treated separately to reduce its volume and make it safe for disposal.
  • Discharge: The final step in the process is the discharge of the treated wastewater into a receiving water body or onto land for reuse.
